Abstract
Transient photocurrent induced by laser pulses in solutions of O/sub 2/, CO/sub 2/, and H/sub 2/O in liquid tetramethylsilane (TMS) has been investigated. It was found that addition of a small (<10/sup -4/ M) amount of H/sub 2/O in dry O/sub 2/ solution resulted in a blue shift of the electron photodetachment threshold and a decrease of the negative ion mobility. For CO/sub 2/ solution the addition of H/sub 2/O resulted in a decrease of the rate of electron detachment from negative ions. These results were associated with the formation of cluster ions O/sub 2/(H/sub 2/O) and CO/sub 2/(H/sub 2/O). The rate constants of the reactions O/sub 2/ + H/sub 2/O /spl rlarr2/ O/sub 2/(H/sub 2/O) and CO/sub 2/ + H/sub 2/O /spl rlarr2/ CO/sub 2/(H/sub 2/O) have been estimated.
