Abstract
The article discusses the role and importance of forensic computer-technical expertise in the investigation of customs crimes and the specifics of the preparation of materials for its appointment. The problem of the study lies in the small practice of using such expertise in the investigation of customs crimes. The authors found that this circumstance is explained by the lack of knowledge among a number of investigators and inquirers about this type of expertise and its capabilities, features of the design of materials sent for research. The authors reveal the algorithm of conducting forensic computer-technical expertise and highlight a number of features of its application in modern conditions. The article examines the practice of customs affairs in detecting contraband, and a significant role in establishing the circumstances of the committed acts belongs to the hardware and technical expertise of mobile phones, in the memory of which information is displayed that is important for the disclosure and investigation of crimes. The use of forensic computer-technical expertise in the investigation of customs crimes will increase the efficiency and speed of solving cases related to smuggling.
