Abstract

Fluorinated and unfluorinated dicarboxylic acids containing sulphonyl groups have been synthesized, as well as the aromatic polyamides based on them. The sulphonyl and tetrafluorophenylene groups did not prevent crystallization of the polyamides. The tetrafluorophenylene substituent reduces the heat resistance of the polymers in air and nitrogen, but improves the resistance to the action of alkali, while that to acid is reduced, when compared with these properties of the unfluorinated analogues.
