Abstract

In this essay, it will be discussed the pioneer use of transgender narratives by two works of the polemic writ-er Cassandra Rios, the Bildungsroman Georgette (1956) and the crime novel, Uma mulher diferente (1965). One of the central aspects of our analysis is the way the narrator deals with the gender of their transgender characters, as well as the crossings between gender identity and sexual orientation during the narrative.
