Abstract

Characteristics of long- and midperiod tidal components in Italian seas and some rivers and water tables are here shown. Annual and semi-annual tides only seem to have a practical weight in the seas, their reffect being appreciable on the mean sea-level fluctuations. Monthly, fortnightly and termonthly components have everywhere small amplitude. The resonance effect of some basin, acting in diurnal and semi-diurnal tides, should be incoming for fortnightly and termonthly components. In continental waters, near the sea, mid and long tides become larger than in the sea; in some cases such an amplification has a climatic origin. Monthly tides are exalted in some groundwaters.
