Abstract

The survey by Donald Hutchings of first degree courses in physics (Physics Bulletin June 1971) provides a fascinating and illuminating comparison of the courses available in this country. It appears that there is now a great deal of flexibility in the content of physics degree courses but rather little flexibility in the degree of contact with industry.
