Abstract
Normally in the finite difference time domain (FDTD) technique, stationary objects are modeled in a time domain simulation as a field propagates around them, and possibly inside these objects. This paper illustrates a method in which EM fields and a moving object can be modeled using the FDTD technique. By using a technique of dielectric approximation and intermediate step field movement, it is possible to model the movement of objects by the FDTD technique. This paper illustrates these principles in a one-dimensional domain with extensions and results for 2D as well.
