Abstract
Communicating unfavourable information is an unavoidable fact that is often confronted by healthcare practitioners. This practice model provides a new perspective for caring which can be applied in nursing situations and environments for health and well being. Conceptualizations for the practice model are influenced by Nightingale Environmental Theory, Relationship Based Care (RBC) model and Peplau theory of Interpersonal Relations. This practice model aims to prepare patients to become Fully Informed, Equipped, Ready, Committed, and Empowered (FIERCE). This highlights the significance of establishing a strengthened relationship between nurse and patient to effectively navigate challenging communication situations. Hence, it is an important addition to nursing knowledge since it possesses a significant potential to enhance health outcomes, feelings of satisfaction and quality of life by encouraging nurses to have the potential to deliver unfavourable information to patients in a more fulfilling manner while ensuring that patients are fully informed, equipped, ready, committed and empowered individuals.
