Abstract

The Rarita-Schwinger field in higher-dimensional spacetime is investigated in the general covariant gauge. It is shown that there exists a Feynman-like gauge where the propagator takes a simple form D ̷ −1. Using this gauge we evaluate the gravitational contribution to the chiral U(1) anomaly in an arbitrary even-dimensional spacetime. Gauge invariance of the anomaly is also shown.
