Abstract

The importance of ferrite magnets for technological applications is due to both their low price and their reasonable magnetic performances. This makes the range of applications extremely wide and ferrite permanent magnets occupy a dominant position in permanent magnets market. In this article, we present the magnetic properties of ferrite permanent magnets. In the first section, we compare the characteristics of ferrite permanent magnets with those of the other classes of permanent magnets, and present the structural and magnetic properties of the ferromagnetic compound that determines the properties of the magnet: the SrFe12O19 compound. In the second section, emphasis is placed on the characteristics of sintered and bonded ferrite magnet materials, in relation with the magnet processing. In the third section, the main applications of ferrite permanent magnets are presented.
