Abstract

Abstract Jarosite is a waste hazardous industrial material, produced in the zinc ore extraction process using the hydrometallurgy operation. Hazardous Jarosite is not disposed of directly due to rules and regulations of the government of India that is why before disposal of jarosite waste addition of 2% lime and 10% cement is done to make a nonhazardous material jarofix. Jarosite was replacing with portland pozzolana cement (PPC) in varying percentages of 0 to 25 at an interval of 5%. The experimental investigation confirmed that when the content of jarosite increases in the cement concrete mix, the mechanical strength properties increases, and durability properties like porosity and abrasion loss decrease. From this experimental study, it can be concluded that jarosite has the potential to be replaced with cement at a certain percentage amount.
