Abstract

The electrodynamic heatshield technique is a promising technique which can replace the current heatshield system. In addition, the technique can provide us a way to maneuver the vehicle without moving parts such as rudders. So far, much research has been devoted to this technique. Nevertheless the technology is remained to be verified by a flight experiment which is necessary since the existing ground facility cannot provide the flight condition. In this study, the feasibility of the flight experiment in a ballistic flight is critically discussed. Especially the super-conducting magnetic field generator and the measurement system onboard the vehicle are discussed in detail.
