Abstract

ABSTRACT Stacks of various plastic detectors were exposed to 590 MeV/Nucl. and 1.9 GeV/Nucl. Fe-ions at the Berkeley accelerator. The registration properties of Daicel- and Kodak CA80-15 cellulose nitrate plastic detectors were studied. Results will be presented: (a) on the mutual influence of both detectors, (b) on the shielding against such an influence, (c) on the different response of the two surfaces of the same detector, (d) on the specific etching properties in the region of the registration threshold in Daicel cellulose nitrate and (e) on the track etching rates. Kodak CA80-15 showed no registration threshold. We will report here on the first measurements of relativistic Fe-ions (1.8 GeV/Nucl.) in cellulose nitrate plastic detectors.
