Abstract

This paper discusses possible sources of α-tracks and the mechanism and possible uses of track etch technique in uranium exploration. We consider that the particles on the detector come from the α-emitters of uranium series including the α-particles from radon decay. It is difficult to explain on the basis of radon diffusion the depth of detection of the track etch method in uranium exploration (from several tens to two hundred metres) thus geochemical processes must be involved.
