Abstract

Lithium ion conductor Li3PS4 was prepared by sonicating the mixture of Li2S and P2S5 in methyl propionate and subsequently evacuated at 170°C. Beside the main phase β–Li3PS4, trace amount of Li2S was also detected in the prepared samples. Effect of sonication time on the formation and ionic conductivity of Li3PS4 solid electrolyte was also studied. It is found that solid electrolyte with decent ionic conductivity of about 2.0 x 10-4 S cm-1 at room temperature could be prepared in just 30 min of sonication
