Abstract
The electronic spectra of crystalline films of methane, ethane and propane were measured from 2000 to 150 Å at liquid air or liquid nitrogen temperature. The spectra are compared to the relating gas phase spectra and the effects of the crystalline environment are discussed although no definite conclusions are possible at this state.
