Abstract
The Community Family Day Care Project explored an existing network of licensed and unlicensed child care resources delivering a variety of services to a diverse group of children. The educational, affective, and social components of the programs, operated by women of varied ethnic and economic backgrounds, are described, and the creation of a self-help organization aimed at enhancing the status and importance of family day care mothers is discussed.
