Abstract
The article presents the results of an experimental study in the field of entertaining etymology. These results prove that familiarization of senior preschool children with the origins of words has a significant impact on the formation of cognitive interest. Methodological aspects of familiarizing senior preschoolers with the origins of words of their native language are described.
