Abstract

This case study of a predominantly middle class, suburban community college examines the role of faculty culture in hindering or facilitating student learning. It extends our understanding of the culture of community colleges by investigating a college quite different from those that have been the focus of previous research. The author’s conclusions emphasize the need for college leaders and researchers to question how faculty culture affects learning in community colleges and to recognize the diversity of college types, faculty, and students.
