Research Article| January 01 2008 Eyes Wide Shut: The Paradoxical Hermeneutics of Faith in Sor Juana's Religious Verse Jeremy Paden Jeremy Paden Georgia State University Jeremy Paden is an Assistant Professor of Spanish at Transylvania University in Lexington, Kentucky. Previously he had been an Assistant Professor at Georgia State University. He specializes in Colonial Latin American Literature and is working on a manuscript that examines the intersection between politics and religion in seventeenth-century poetry from New Spain.
