Abstract

ABSTRACTThis article gives a comparative and typological account of the properties of Verb-Noun-Noun constructions in Dutch, using data not only from Dutch but also from a wide range of other languages. In particular, it offers an analysis of the semantic, thematic and functional-pragmatic conditions that govern the extraposition (both to the right and to the left) of Dutch prepositional phrases that serve as postnominal attributes within Dutch noun phrases.
