Abstract
The paper analyses attitudes and concepts towards agricultural and food marketing improvement in developing countries during the last three decades. It reviews specific issues on marketing improvement, highlights programmes of assistance and concludes with remarks on directions for the future. It stresses more active participation of the beneficiaries in the design and implementation of projects, more built-in incentives, more cost-effectiveness of projects, better cooperation between government and the private sector and more quality in projects.
