Abstract

New equations have been obtained for the correlation of the apparent molal volume of electrolyte solutions based on the some local composition models. The non-random factor (NRF), modified non-random two-liquid (MNRTL) and extended Wilson (EW) models have been considered for this purpose. Applicability of the obtained equations in the correlation of the apparent molal volume of aqueous solutions of some electrolytes with different stoichiometry (1:1, 2:1, 1:2, 2:2 and 3:1) at the temperature 298.15 K is examined. It is found that the models are suitable models in representing the published data for the tested aqueous solutions. The results obtained from these models were compared with those obtained from the Pitzer and electrolyte non-random two-liquid (e-NRTL) models.
