Abstract

In this paper we propose a a new interconnection network for parallel computer named as Extended Crossed Cube with cross connection which is denoted as ECCC(n, k) where n is the dimension and k is the number of hierarchical level. The proposed interconnection network is smaller network diameter, less average distance, better degree connectivity and reliable than its predecessor that is Extended crossed cube ECC(n, k). It provides fault tolerance in the presence of some faulty nodes and/or communication links. This paper presents the various topological properties of the proposed interconnection network ECCC(n, k) such as degree connectivity, diameter, cost factor etc. The different types of performance metrics proves that the proposed interconnection network ECCC(n, k) is a better choice in parallel processing environment for high performance computing than its predecessors. The previous architectures are not superior candidate for an interconnection network for a extremely large parallel computer which may contain thousands of processing nodes due to high performance computing. So our proposed architecture takes the advantages of cross connection and hierarchical level, can accommodate more processing nodes and network controllers than Extended Crossed Cube with cross connection ECC(n, k).
