Abstract

Objective To study the expression of Caveolin-1 and Ezrin in breast carcinoma and its correlation with prognosis. Methods Caveolin-1 protein and Ezrin expression in 85 cases of human breast carcinoma tissues and non-cancerous adjacent breast tissues was examined by using envision immunohistochemical method. Results The expression rate of Caveolin-1 was 57.65% in breast carcinoma tissues, and 92.94% in non-cancerous adjacent breast tissues (P < 0.01).The expression rate of Ezrin was 64.71% in breast carcinoma tissues, and 20.00% in non-cancerous adjacent breast tissues (P <0.01).The expression of Caveolin-1 was related to TNM stage and lymph node metastasis (P < 0.01).There was a close correlation between the expression of Ezrin and tumor size,TNM stage and lymph node metastasis (P < 0.05).Conclusion The Caveolin-1 and Ezrin are good markers that reflect the biological behaviors of breast carcinoma. Key words: Caveolin-1 ; Ezrin ; Breast carcinoma
