Abstract

Objective To study the expression of erythropoietin producing human hepatocellular receptor A2 (EphA2) and seven in absentia homologues 2 (SIAH2) in breast carcinoma. Methods Immunohistochemical method was applied to detect the expression of EphA2 and SIAH2 in 83 cases of human breast carcinoma tissues and non-cancerous adjacent breast tissues, and the relationship with the clinicopathological factors was analyzed. Results The expression rate of EphA2 in breast carcinoma tissues was higher than that of non-cancerous adjacent breast tissues (75.90% vs.12.05%,P < 0.01),and of SIAH2 in breast carcinoma tissues was higher than that of non-cancerous adjacent breast tissues (67.47% vs.16.87%,P <0.01).The expression of EphA2 was related to histology grade,TNM stage and lymph node metastasis of breast carcinoma (P < 0.01),and the expression of SIAH2 was related to tumor size,TNM stage and lymph node metastasis of breast carcinoma (P < 0.05).Conclusion The combined detection of EphA2 and SIAH2 may be of great value for predicting the biological behaviors of breast carcinoma. Key words: Breast carcinoma; Erythropoietin producing human hepatocellular receptor A2; Seven in absentia homologues 2
