Abstract
Objective To investigate the expression of axis inhibitory factor 1 (Axin1) and mini-chromosome maintenance protein 7 (MCM7) in breast cancer tissues and its relationship with clinicopathological features of breast cancer. Methods We collected the breast cancer tissue samples and paracancer tissue samples of 121 cases breast cancer patient in our hospital for the study. We measured the expression of Axin1 protein and MCM7 protein in breast cancer tissue and paracancer tissue by immunohistochemistry. Results The positive rate of Axin1 in breast cancer tissue was 42.1%, the positive rate of Axin1 in paracancer tissue was 56.2%, the positive rate of Axin1 in breast cancer was lower than that in paracancer tissue (χ2=4.778, P=0.029). The positive rate of MCM7 in breast cancer tissue was 85.1%, the positive rate of MCM7 in paracancer tissue was 6.6%, the positive rate of MCM7 in breast cancer was lower than that in paracancer tissue (χ2=150.199, P=0.000). The positive rate of Axin1 in breast cancer tissue of diameter >5 cm (7.1%) was less than that of diameter ≤5 cm (36.4%; χ2=4.805, P=0.028). The positive rate of Axin1 in breast cancer tissue of clinical stage Ⅰ-Ⅱ (45.0%) was higher than that of clinical stage Ⅲ-Ⅳ (16.1%; χ2=7.995, P=0.005). The positive rate of Axin1 in breast cancer tissue of p53 positive (43.9%) was higher than that of p53 negative (21.8%; χ2=6.553, P=0.010). The positive rate of Axin1 in breast cancer tissue of progesterone receptor (PR) positive (51.2%)was higher than that of PR negative (27.6%; χ2=6.753, P=0.009). The positive rate of MCM7 in breast cancer tissue of histological grade Ⅲ grade (96.9%) was higher than that of histological grade Ⅰ-Ⅱ (80.9%; χ2=4.744, P=0.029). The positive rate of MCM7 in breast cancer tissue of lymph node metastasis (92.2%) was higher than that of without lymph node metastasis (77.2%; χ2=5.353, P=0.021). The positive rate of MCM7 in breast cancer tissue of clinical stage Ⅲ-Ⅳ stage (95.1%) was higher than that of clinical stage Ⅰ-Ⅱ (80.0%; χ2=4.895, P=0.027). The positive rate of MCM7 in breast cancer tissue of p53 negative (92.7%) was higher than that of p53 positive (92.7%; χ2=4.603, P=0.032). The Axin1 and MCM7 expression in breast cancer was no significant correlation (r=-0.253, P=0.067). The 5-year survival rate of Axin1 positive group (71.0%) was higher than that of Axin1 negative group (49.4%; χ2=8.314, P=0.002); The 5-year survival rate of MCM7 positive group (47.3%) was lower than that of MCM7 negative group (χ2=13.231, P=0.000). Conclusion The Axin1 and MCM7 is related to the development and prognosis of breast cancer. The Axin1 in breast cancer tissue is low expressed, and the MCM7 in breast cancer tissue was highly expressed. The Axin1 and MCM7 expression in breast cancer was no significant correlation.
