Abstract

Research Article| May 01 2013 Exposition on Baking Baklava Hillary Fogerty Hillary Fogerty Hillary Fogerty grew up alternately on her parents’ sustainable homestead in the Kootenai National Forest of Montana and in the kitchen of their pizza restaurant in Berkeley, California. Her unusual education—beginning in a one-room log cabin schoolhouse and ending at the University of Washington, where she earned her PhD in English—has always offered her the benefit of unique perspective. Her academic research and teaching have focused primarily on gender and sexuality in literature and film, and more recently on food studies and the environment. Her poetry reflects many of the same themes. Although she loves teaching, Dr. Fogerty’s next adventures include taking an intentional break from higher education, concentrating on writing, and founding a sustainable theatre company and Shakespeare festival in the Arkansas Ozarks.
