Abstract

The usage of high-strength wear-resisting aluminum bronze alloys is increasing in various industrial applications. The surface roughness prediction for these materials is increasingly important. The present investigation focuses to investigate the significance of process parameters on surface roughness of cylindrical traverse cut grinding of aluminum bronze material. The roughness data is analyzed with the help of analysis of signal to noise ratio and graphical presentations like main effect and interaction plots. Optimum parametric setting has been obtained by Taguchi method. Further confirmation test of the optimized combination was done to confirm the results obtained from Taguchi method. The results of the present study may provide the knowledge / data base of cylindrical grinding process for prediction of surface finish of aluminum bronze material at given setting of process parameters.
