Abstract

The AISI 310 metal that we are focused on studying is one of the most popular boiler and pressure vessel grade of the steel plate in the industry and its widely used in high temperature applications. Stainless steel similar welding processes yield unwanted disadvantages in the weld joint due to the variable process parameters of metal inert gas (MIG) welding. Stainless steel AISI 310 was butt-welded by using Metal Inert Gas welding with AISI 310 filler. The effects of the welding parameters such Weld voltage, Weld Current and Gas flow rate on the weld joints were determined. Experimental procedure derived by Design of Experiment and effects are identified through Grey relational analysis. The significant effect of weld parameters such as weld current, weld voltage and gas flow rate are studied by Grey relational analysis and also response of variable parameters are identified from the experimental results. The weld current was having most significant impact on weld process, thus the results identified from the Experimental and Grey Relational analysis result.
