Abstract

In recent days, the applications of advanced alloys in manufacturing industries have been increased due its superior substance properties. Stellite alloy comes under the category of cobalt-chromium super alloys. In this paper the machinability performance of stellite using different unconventional machining process such as spark erosion (SE) and laser beam (LB) technique were discussed. The fine holes were produced on the surface of the stellite 1 alloy. The comparisons of rate of material removal (RMR) were analyzed using different input constrains. The interaction and contribution of process factor on material removal rate were determined. Finally, it was concluded that laser machining was provided high metal removal than spark erosion process. More than 25% of metal removal was achieved through laser machining process.
