Abstract

Fatigue tests under variable amplitude multiaxial loading were conducted on notched specimens of titanium alloy TC4. The key issues of fatigue life estimation under variable amplitude multiaxial loading for notched components have been researched. Multiaxial fatigue critical area of notched specimen was determined first. Then, fatigue damage control parameter based on Wu–Hu–Song model and rainflow cycle counting as well as Miner–Palmgren rule was applied in prediction approach. The proposed prediction procedures were checked against the test data of TC4 notched specimens under variable amplitude multiaxial loading. The prediction results are all within a factor of two scatter band of the test results.
