Abstract

The scientific advisory corpus supporting the decision-making processes regarding the risk assessment of chemicals in the European Union is composed by a set of Scientific Committees and Panels established under the European Commission and several European Agencies, such as European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), European Chemicals Agency (ECHA), European Medicines Agency (EMA), and European Environmental Agency (EEA). The structure, composition, and appointment mechanisms are different for each Committee, and the rules of procedure and daily practice are also adapted to the specific needs of each scientific advisory body.
