Abstract

Banana is the common name for herbaceous plants of the genus Musa. Bananas come in a variety of sizes and colours when ripe, including yellow, purple, and red. This review presents information on the phytochemicals and pharmacological studies to validate the traditional use of different parts of M. acuminata in various diseases and ailments. Musa acuminata is a common name for Cavendish banana is an important plant due to its immense medicinal properties. It is traditional used to treat skin disease, wound healing, swelling, diabetes, allergy, cardiovascular disorder, diarrhea.
