Abstract

In Ptolemaic Egypt there was no rigorous formal distinction made between Greeks and Egyptians. Yet in daily life there was clearly a difference between Greeks and Egyptians. The exact meaning of the term “Egyptian”, the subject of this article, is not easy to determine.
