Abstract

This work deals with an estimation of kinematic viscosities for ternary and quaternary systems using the modified Eyring – activity coefficient model. The activity coefficient models discussed in this work are three local composition models, i.e., Wilson, NRTL and Wilson + Porter. The binary parameters in these models were determined from the literature data of binary kinematic viscosities. Tested binary systems for regression are 10 aqueous and 39 non-aqueous mixtures with 55 data sets. The estimation of the kinematic viscosities for the ternary and quaternary systems was done by using only the binary parameters of the binary constituent systems. For aqueous systems, the modified Eyring – Wilson + Porter model showed the best prediction accuracies. These predicted accuracies of the ternary systems were compared with the predicted values by the McAllister model using the ternary constants determined from the binary parameters.
