Abstract

To think the future of the work of art is to think a situation within art is radically called into question, a situation marked by the « end of art history », by the possible disappearance of the « work of art », i. e. in a situation where it becomes possible to say : « there is no work of art ». The concept of art is thought in a non-historical, in a teleological perspective. This implies : 1° to call into question the frame of the art history inherited from the aesthetics or the frame of aesthetics as a historical science ; 2° to grasp the concept of art in an « anaesthetic » form, where categories of aesthetics are put into brackets in a therapeutic perspective.
