Abstract

This effort is to analyze the esthetics value of the first piano focused book in Serbian language, named 'Piano School', written by Danica Krstic, based on opinions of piano students at high schools. We surveyed students attending 'Parallel piano' subject and 'Piano B' subject, and analyzed their particular and combined answers. 'Piano School' book, written by Danica Krstic, although characterized by exceptional didactic methodical qualities, isn't listed on the available literature within current Educational Plan and Program for music schools, and is almost unknown to the subject expats. His analysis showcases the research efforts, aimed at establishing the views of music high school students to the literally oldest methodical book for piano elementary education in Serbia. We hold that 'Piano School' book written by Danica Krstic indeed embodies esthetics qualities required for successful fulfilment of basic piano education. It was obvious that piano students regarded the book as inspiring, interesting and insightful. Kepping in mind students opinions, the above-mentioned value-added aspects are to estimate to what degree is the book efficient in piano aspirants activities, and to what extent it indeed helps in attaining piano essentials. This research points at the need of utilizing and actualizing one long forgotten book that would in turn enrich piano pedagogical literature in particular, and a piano education in general.
