Abstract

This work discusses the formulations - made by famous brazilians thinkers, like Alberto Torres, Oliveira Vianna, Azevedo Amaral and Gilberto Amado - about the functions of the state in Brazil, in the period called "Primeira República". By the investigation of the principal theoretical bases of these thinkers, this work examines their state's institucional model formulated, especifically the relations about the institucional structure and an idealized national identity formulated by these thinkers.
