Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs have been the cornerstone of pain management in the horse. However, other classes of analgesic drugs, that are often used in other species, have also been used in horses. This article will discuss some of the analgesic drugs used less frequently in equids, and strategies that may be of benefit when managing pain in this species.
