Abstract

A novel cross-coupled approach synchronization controller design method is presented for improving whole workspace synchronization of flight simulators. The method synthesizes cross-coupled approach forward channel controllers with QFT (quantitative feedback theory) SISO algorithm. Cross-coupled controllers between two channels are designed using QFT MIMO stability conditions. Synchronization errors are evaluated by steady state synchronization conditions. Additionally, feed forward controllers are adopted to fulfil the strict requirement of magnitude-frequency characteristics and phase-frequency characteristics of flight simulators. Three groups of cross-coupled synchronization controllers are designed according to angle position areas to satisfy performance specification of whole workspace. Simulation results indicate that controllers designed with the proposed method could achieve performance specification requirements over whole workspace.
