Abstract
the particularities of the environmental situation in the industrialized region with the predominant economic activity “Mining” are described in the article. Environmental monitoring of such basic components as the quality of atmospheric air and water, as well as investments into the environmental renovation and protection is recognized as an information system for ensuring the environmental safety of regions. As a result of the monitoring, the main discrepancies between the financial support of environmental renovation measures and the results of anthropogenic impact of coal mining enterprises on the environment were identified; attention was focused on the need to improve the efficiency of funds allocated for environmental protection and rational use of natural resources. The information system of environmental monitoring used by the coal-mining company SUEK, which today is a set of measures aimed at assessing the negative impact of the enterprise’s activities on the environment of the region and eliminating its consequences, was considered. The system of environmental renovation measures developed and implemented by the Company, their effectiveness, along with adequate funding, allows the company to become one of the industry leaders in social accountability and corporate sustainability.
