Abstract

SUMMARY. A study was made of a series of monuments located in the city of Valencia, built with different types of stone, and pertaining to different ages. Our intention was to verify the degree of influence that both climatological agents and atmospheric pollution had in their weathering. The techniques used were as follows: some of the physical experiments from those recommended by international institutions (Rilem), microscopies: reflection, petrographic, TEM and SEM techniques, with X-Ray microanalysis, and chemical analysis of soluble salts in lithofacies, which have provided very meaningful data.
