Abstract

The exchange of letters in the 1920s became an efficient way of divulgating original texts among the intellectuals linked to Brazilian modernist movement. The correspondence exchanged among the members of Modernism reveals that the sharing of original works came to be a constant practice. Mario de Andrade e Luis da Câmara Cascudo were among those writers that considered the circulation of original writings an encouragement to the exchange of ideas with their colleagues, as one confirms observing the great volume of manuscripts that they sent, received and commented. This paper discusses aspects related to the exercise of literary critique present in the letter exchange between Luis da Câmara Cascudo and Mario de Andrade in the period from 1924 to 1928.
