Abstract

Objective To explore how to improve practical teaching for medical students with the enlightenment of clinical surgical skills competition. Methods The first clinical surgical skills competition was held in our school. 100 students were divided into 20 teams, who went through the preliminaries, semifinal and final competition. A total of 18 items of competition were common clinical surgical skills, which included basic, comprehensive, improvement. The competition scope and criteria based on " clinical medical training course". After the competition, we counted and analyzed the results. Results The basic skills were mastered better, but the comprehensive and improvement were poor, the differences between groups were obviously. Conclusions Play the role of skills competition as a platform in talents training to promote the skills and ability training. At the same time we should find the strengths and weaknesses of our teaching, which will promote the reform and improvement of clinical practice teaching.
