Abstract

In this study, two chemometrics methods coupled with spectrophotometry technique are described for the simultaneous determination of triamcinolone acetonide (TA), neomycin (NEO), and nystatin (NYS) in Triamcinolone N.N ointment. Firstly, the continuous wavelet transform (CWT) method with different wavelet families was applied to select the best family for analyzing the TA, NEO, and NYS. The Coiflet wavelet (coif2) family with the wavelength of 224 nm, Daubechies wavelet family (db2) in the wavelength of 214 nm, and Symlet wavelet family (sym3) in the wavelength of 234 nm were found for the simultaneous analysis of TA, NEO, and NYS, respectively. Mean recovery values of TA, NEO, and NYS in synthetic mixtures were obtained 98.27%, 101.23%, and 99.70%, respectively. The root mean square errors (RMSE) of TA, NEO, and NYS related to the CWT technique were 0.5189, 0.4631, and 0.2515, respectively. Also, the first derivative transform (DT) was used for the simultaneous determination of TA, NEO, and NYS at 232 nm, 210 nm, and 240 nm, respectively. Mean recovery values relate to this method were found to be 100.13%, 98.45%, and 102.52% for TA, NEO, and NYS. Analyzing the real sample by the proposed methods and high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) as a reference method were compared to each other by one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) test at a 95% confidence level. The obtained statistical data from these techniques showed no significant differences.
