Abstract

We report third order nonlinear optical characteristics of barium (Ba) doped cobalt molybdate (CoMoO4) nanostructures, synthesized through chemical precipitation method. The influence of Ba doping on the structural, optical, and morphological properties of CoMoO4 nanostructures has been studied. X-ray diffraction (XRD) pattern reveals that the synthesized nanostructures are well crystallized with monoclinic structure. UV–Vis absorption spectra have shown a decrease in absorption and increase in optical band gap upon Ba doping. High resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM) image displays uniform size distribution of particles with cubical morphology. X-ray photo electron spectroscopy confirms chemical state of the elements present in nanostructures. The non-linear optical properties of the nanostructures studied by z-scan technique at excitation wavelength 532 nm revealed that the samples exhibit reverse saturable absorption and self-defocusing nature.
