Abstract
Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3-PbTiO3 pyroelectric single crystals with Mn ion substitution (Mn:PMN-PT), exhibiting high pyroelectric performance, are promising for high resolution non-dispersive infrared detection. In this work, compensated pyroelectric detector based on Mn:PMN-PT single crystals was prepared, with pyroelectric element consisting of an IR sensing element and compensating element electrically reversely connected. The results showed that the addition of the compensating element had no effect on the output signal amplitude of the detector, and that the signal amplitude increased with temperature linearly in the range of −10 °C to +40 °C. Compared to the uncompensated detector, the compensated one gave more stable output as ambient temperature changes, and was more appropriate for practical application.
