Abstract

[Li y (K0.5+x Na0.5-x )1-y ]NbO3 (x = 0.1, 0.2 and y = 0.06–0.16) ceramics were prepared by the solid state reaction method. The solubility of Li+ in (K,Na)NbO3 ceramics was improved with the increase of K/Na ratio and the polymorphic phase transition (PPT) shifted to the composition with higher Li+ concentration. The Curie temperature also increased due to the increased Li+ solubility. The Tc of single phase [Li0.12(K0.7Na0.3)0.88]NbO3 ceramics was as high as 488°C. The [Li y (K0.5+x Na0.5-x )1-y ]NbO3 ceramics exhibited high piezoelectric properties at the composition near PPT which was even better than the properties of [Li0.06(K0.5Na0.5)]NbO3 ceramics., so they could be potential candidates for lead-free high Tc piezoelectric ceramics.
