Abstract
A short 10 years ago, Vincent Fulginiti, the late Ray Helfer, and I visited theJAMAheadquarters in Chicago, III, so that we could be briefed on the process of publishing a medical journal. Vince was the newly appointed editor of theAmerican Journal of Diseases of Children, and we were the associate editors. A lot has occurred since 1983, and I am proud to report that the journal is alive and well. We embarked on a number of adventures, some of these turning into misadventures, but all in all we have had a very successful decade. There have been a number of changes in the editorial staff over these 10 years. Ray could not continue as associate editor, but he did remain an exceptional and valuable reviewer. A succession of able associate editors ensued that included Hugh Allen (Columbus, Ohio), Alan Bedrick (Baltimore, Md), and, most recently, Will Waring
